The idea for PEACE was born:

In June 2020 my world changed forever. It took the horrific death of a man in America for this to happen. The death of George Floyd opened the worlds eyes to something that had been a part of my everyday life for as long as I remember, all of a sudden, the topics that people used to want to avoid are at the forefront of everyone’s minds. I started having conversations with others that up until this moment only really existed in my head- and people were actually listening. Experiences were being shared, difficult conversations where happening, realisation that change needs to come was taking place up and down the country and across the world. Racism stopped being lonely as the people in my life started to truly see it for what it is.

I started to realise one thing; the professional world seemed to be catching up much more slowly, the conversations people were having tended to happen at home, but rarely at work or in education. If they did happen it was more tentative, more unsure, and much less impactful. It was almost as if everyone knew what needed to be done but not how to do it. Thus, was born the idea for PEACE, to make the anti-racism journey practical in the real-life world of work and education.

PEACE stands for Practical Equality, Actioning Change for Everyone. There are 3 main features to our name. The first is Practical equality - Practical: an examination or lesson in which theories and procedures learned are applied to the actual making or doing of something. Most of us know what equality is and what it means but how many of us are sure we are putting this into action. This leads us on to the second - Actioning Change – Action: the fact or process of doing something, typically to achieve an aim. The process of creating an anti-racist culture must require actions to be taken for core changes. The third is Everyone: Every person. These actions for change must be undertaken by, and for the benefit of every person regardless of race, status, position etc.

Our Vision

Our Aim with PEACE is to bring true equality in all areas of life. At home, at work, in school even in the pub socialising with friends. Our vision is a world where understanding and actioning change is universal, where solidarity and unity are imbedded into our cultures at work and at home. Where atmospheres of oppression are extinct, and everyone has a safe space to express themselves. A world where we no longer have to worry about whether race is playing a part in our negative experiences because we can be confident it is not. True equality, rather than empty words.

These aims are not only achievable, but already happening. You only need to flick on the TV or have a scroll through your social media and no doubt you will see something about the Black Lives Matter movement.

What we do:

We provide practical Diversity, Equality & inclusion support including consultation, training, workshops and educational material to help businesses develop and improve their equality culture. We build relationships with our customers in order to get a real understanding of the business, the people and the culture, this way we can build a package that will be most effective in the fight against racism rather than a one-size fits all approach. We offer continued support for all of our customer by way of membership, which will give access to updates, materials and contact with our experts for any questions or help.

We use our profits for community projects such as workshops for all ages and the development of educational material that we will provide for free to the greater public. We will also support small, independent organisations that have services or products aimed at the fight against racism.

We truly believe that everyone can and should help in the fight against racism. Our services help you do this in a pragmatic way, with achievable action plans to support new or existing processes, policies and procedures.

Here at PEACE we do not believe that the system is broken, rather it was designed to oppress. That design has been a part of our fundamental culture for 100’s of years. So, change will be difficult, it will be hard work and it will not be quick but true equality is a change that is necessary. So, are you ready to make that commitment? Are you ready to be a part of the change?
